Groton Zebras Conclude Season with Hard-Fought Battle Against Berkshire

The Groton School boys' varsity hockey team wrapped up their season in the first round of the New England Prep Small School Tournament, falling to #2-seeded Berkshire by a score of 3-0. Despite the result, the Zebras displayed grit and determination throughout the contest, showcasing the perseverance and resilience that defined their season.

The game remained scoreless through the first period, with Groton’s defensive effort and strong goaltending keeping the powerful Berkshire offense at bay. Junior goaltender Wes DiModica turned in a stellar performance, making 36 saves on 38 shots and giving his team a chance to compete until the final whistle.
Berkshire broke the deadlock in the second period with a powerplay goal from Evan Regan at 9:52. The Zebras continued to battle, but in the third period, Berkshire added an even-strength goal from James McMurray at 7:13 and sealed the win with an empty-netter from Regan in the closing minutes.

Though the Zebras' season ended with a tough loss, their journey was marked by perseverance and resilience. Groton compiled a 16-12-0 record, navigating a season full of highs and lows. The team put together multiple winning streaks, including a five-game run, but also faced adversity with a few challenging stretches. Through it all, they never stopped competing and pushing forward.

We are incredibly proud of this group for their dedication, teamwork, and tenacity. They represented Groton with class and determination every time they took the ice. Congratulations to our Sixth Formers for their leadership and contributions, and to the entire team for an unforgettable season. We look forward to building on this experience and coming back even stronger next year!
